We can't develop board games without a logo and some colourful elements so we worked hard on getting some visuals designed. During the first transnational project meeting colours layout and elements were discussed and after some days of work we managed to come up with the first concepts and elements which later was iterated and resulted in our logo!
We decided to share with you our logo variations and elements in this blog.
Since the project is being tackled by three organisations from three different countries it is imperative for the organisations to meet and discuss the flow and way forward of the project. For the first meeting, two representatives from each organisation met in Estonia were everyone met and had a brief introductory session as to break the ice and start a good working rapport.
A number of things where discussed over three full days but mainly everyone went through the application again and evaluated the work on each output and discussed how the work will be divided. Everyone got on a task to make sure that all deadlines are being met to be able to reach all targets set and finally an action plan was developed to identify next steps and benchmarks.
Shokkin Group is an Estonian youth organization composed of young people 16-30 years of age, based in or connected to Estonia. The organization was founded in October 2011 with the main aim of empowering young people of Estonia to live a pro-active lifestyle by providing them with opportunities to develop competencies for personal, professional and social growth. The organization works closely with young people coming from the Russian-speaking background but also including young people with Estonian being their first language. By these activities we are working to unite young people of Estonia regardless of their nationality, religion, race or any other possible characteristic. Our motto is imagine, inspire, act! And it describes the whole idea of our organization in the best possible way. We hope that modern youth will imagine, be inspired and inspire others to act for a stronger society! Since 2011 Shokkin Group is closely working with the Youth Department of Tallinn & with Tallinn Central Youth Centre implementing various local projects and events such as Shokkin Kamp, Teeme Ära, Kids Got Moves, Graffiti Festival, Christmas Miracle and many more. Since 2013 Shokkin Group has been actively involved in the YIA programme and built a reliable and pleasant network of local and international partners, with whom we have developed projects connected to game-based learning, youth entrepreneurship, urban arts, urban and rural development, outdoor education, non-formal learning methodology and many other topics, with a few projects being mentioned as good practices by various National Agencies
Fundacja ADJ is a local Polish NGO with activities at regional level, which was set and works to motivate children, young people and adults to develop soft skills they miss for work purposes, future career development and planning, personal development and entrepreneurship of young people starting to plan their future. ADJ supports youth and parents to better understand their talents and based on that, take conscious decisions for a better and more engaged lifestyle and motivation in the different areas of the society. It implements educational activities for the development of social competences and skills for their target groups, in Leszno and surrounding environments, such as small villages and towns between Leszno and Poznan, or Leszno and Wroclaw; and it vision is supported by the partners at local level, such as institutions, companies and local entrepreneurs. The foundation was founded by people who have been working for many years at the ADJ language school to meet the needs of local society and go beyond, reaching for the target groups who cannot effort the private lessons. It also promotes learning mobility, with big emphasis on the development of foreign languages. The staff have extensive 10-year experience in implementing activities for the local community resulting from the company's activities - organization of city games for families in cooperation with local sport teams, St. Nicholas' Day performances for children with their families, picnics for families or creative workshops for children and youth. Our activities are based upon non-formal education methods and mobility opportunities for different target groups - young people, youth workers, adult mobility
Youth workers are always in need of new, creative resources that can help them engage, enlarge and refresh their toolboxes for supporting youth in their daily work. Also, European countries are struggling in relation to migration waves, long-lasting youth unemployment , economic and financial crises. Soft skills, including communication, social and people skills , character traits, career attributes and social intelligence are lacking in the youth of the current European Society. Three youth organisations teamed up together to enhance these forgotten skills, as we believe in youth, which are still eager to learn and have a larger sense of motivation.
To do this, youth workers and NGOs need to be equipped with and confident in using a variety of tools. It's agreed that in the online and socially distant world we currently live in, board games are a tool which is emerging again and games in general have proven to be an effective tool in order to transfer knowledge to people. The power of well-designed games can impact and change behaviours, while a printable board game makes the latter more accessible. A game is the best way to develop these soft skills.
The objectives of the project can be summarized as: -To research soft skills development needs amongst youth and create a structured approach using game-based learning through focus groups and interviews -To develop and pilot an online game development course tailored to youth workers -To design, test and promote 6 fully developed printable educational games for soft skill development through a process of prototyping, testing and re-evaluating -To increase operational capacity of partner organizations in delivering quality educational services to young people and educators through game laboratories, training and playing events -To promote the use of educational games and spread the results of the strategic partnership among relevant stakeholders locally & internationally through physical and online multiplier events -To develop young people’s soft skills by the means of educational games and equip youth workers with tools to gamify their activities.
The project is being held in a transnational dimension to enable us to create a course and games that are applicable at a larger, European Level. It also lets us study youth needs to see correlations amongst countries and analyse available resources in multiple languages. Also, as partners, we have already achieved brilliant results, individually and together over short-term projects, so we believe that together, our impacts will be greater and better over a long-term one.
