Monday, May 10th, 2010 – Day of arrival
We had a welcome drink and official reception with a short round of introduction of the teachers and participants, the rules of the house were explained and topic was introduced. Dinner followed.
Tuesday, May 11th, 2010
Our organisers, Ulrich Brinker / Gabriele Meymann-Christians discussed the current situation of migration and integration in Germany, giving an introduction of a social scientific study with the topic migration/integration. A movie „Ostwestfalen-Lippe“ – a film about the region was seen. The afternoon continued with a sightseeing-Tour through Oerlinghausens objects of interest (Synagogue, Jewish graveyard, pubs, shops etc.)
Wednesday, May 12th, 2010
Ulrich Brinker / Gabriele Meymann-Christians discussed the chances and problems of integration; main focus: art, culture and sports and we watched a film „Labyrinth“, the product of a cultural week, self-organised by migrants. The participants started to discuss the situation in their home countries.
In the afternoon we visited the IBZ - Intercultural Meeting Centre in Bielefeld where Ms Dinah Musharbash gave us a presentation of their work. Later we visited the castle „Sparrenburg“, Bielefelds landmark.
Thursday, May 13th, 2010 (Ascension Day, Holiday in Germany)
Ulrich Brinker / Gabriele Meymann-Christians discussed the chances and problems of integration; main focus: economical perspectives. More country situation presentations. In the afternoon we left for Detmold, where we visited the Westphalian open-air museum and had a guided tour through the exhibition „Planet Westphalia – Stories from people migrated from and to Westphalia”

Ulrich Brinker / Gabriele Meymann-Christians discussed the chances and problems of integration; main focus: Education (e.g. socio-political education, religious education). More country presentations. We visited Paderborn city, specifically the Liborianum, Education centre of the archdiocese Paderborn and a city tour of Paderborn.

Preparation of the individual participants’ report, evaluation of the workshop and had a discussion about further cooperation
