Aġenzija Żgħażagħ has started this long way to Youth Information by using the internet medium and launching a National Youth Information Portal inaugurated on the 26th February at the premises of Aġenzija Żghażagħ itself. This Portal holds information about fourteen topics related to young people. Such topics incorporate information about: Culture and Leisure, Cyber safety; Education; Environment; Employment;Europe; Family and Relationships; Health; Housing; Law, Rights and Responsibilities; Money; Participation and Volunteering; Sport; and Transport and Travel.

This Youth Information Portal apart from offering interesting information aimed at the needs of young people, will hold a calendar of events specifically for activities held by youth organisations and will have the latest news concerning diverse opportunities for young people. One of the innovative features that this Portal has is a streaming online radio with a playlist of Maltese artists with the aim to promote local talent. Most importantly, this Portal will be the link between all Maltese young people and Aġenzija Żgħażagħ. Therefore, I strongly encourage you to visit this portal on http://www.youthinfo.gov.mt

Malta Unesco Youth Association is collaborating with the Office of the Prime Minister and Karl Borg Events in the exhibition Anne Frank – A History for Today, that is taking place at the Auberge De Castille until 18 February.

Malta Unesco Youth Association is also the coordinator of The Crocus Project in Malta, a project that exposes the subject of the Holocaust among school children through the planting of yellow narcissus bulbs in schools and a number of workshops that allow the children to learn more about the historical occurrence and the importance of tolerance and acceptance of diversity.

Acknowledging the importance of the message of the Anne Frank exhibition, the organisation has worked closely with Karl Borg Events and the Office of the Prime Minister throughout the set-up of the exhibition and is helping out also throughout until the exhibition comes to a close.

During the launch of the exhibition, thanks to Karl Borg Events, the Malta Unesco Youth Association, presented the Prime Minister Dr Lawrence Gonzi, with a memento, a yellow narcissus made out of glass that like in The Crocus Project, represents the millions of children that died in the holocaust. The star shaped flower recalls the yellow star of David that Jews were forced to wear during the Nazi regime.

The travelling exhibition, Anne Frank – A History for Today, tells the story of Anne Frank set against the background of the Holocaust. The exhibition makes use of images from the Frank family photo albums and quotations from the diary of Anne Frank. Each panel displays information about the most important developments of that time; the rise of National Socialism, the Second World War and the persecution of the Jews.

The exhibition is in both Maltese and English and is free of charge. It is open from Monday to Friday from 9am to 7pm and Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays from 9am to 1pm. Entrance to the exhibition is from Merchants Street.

The Anne Frank exhibition is being supported by the German, Dutch and the United States of America Embassies.
